OUTREACH
Each month, Shepherd of the Hills members are invited to support a different ministry organization. Each year, our Church Council reviews and selects these non-profits. We try to balance local needs with national and even international ones. These are the ones chosen for 2023:
ELCA Disaster Relief – provides tangible help to those affected by natural disasters
Isaiah 117 House – provides a safe home for children awaiting foster care placement
East Fannin Elementary School Books for Kids – allows children at our local elementary school to receive news books who would otherwise not be able to afford them
ELCA World Hunger – distributes food to all people in need of receiving their daily bread
REACH of Cherokee County – provides a safe space and various forms of assistance to victims of domestic violence
Fannin School System Children’s Fund – meets a variety of needs for students (kindergarten through 12 th grade) when the family has financial restraints
ELCA Good Gifts – provides families with a more sustainable income through giving them animals (e.g., chicks, pig, goat, etc.)
Healing Hands Clinic – offers basic healthcare services to the uninsured residents in the north Georgia area
Good Samaritan Fund – a non-denominational association of Fannin County churches that helps people with short-term financial needs
Bethlehem Ministry – provides education for children as well as the creation of jobs and healthcare for the people in northeastern Haiti
East Fannin Elementary School Clothes Closet – members purchase clothes and shoes that are donated to help the children of our local elementary school
Community Food Banks – three separate agencies that provide food and other necessities to the residents of Fannin, Union, and Cherokee (NC) Counties
